Zakat Calculator
Zakat on Land & Real Estate
The ruling on property Zakat depends on why you own it. Tell us whether the property is for personal use, investment for resale, or rental income — the calculator applies the ruling of the scholars, shows the Zakat due where one applies, and your entries stay saved on this device.
Property Intent
This is the key question that determines the Zakat ruling — why you own the property matters more than what it is worth.
Understanding Property Zakat
Intention is the key factor. The niyyah — why you own the property — determines the ruling, more than the property's type or value.
Personal use is exempt. A personal residence, and land you live on or intend to build your home on, are exempt from Zakat.
Property bought for resale. Land or property bought as a trade is treated like business inventory — Zakat is 2.5% of its current market value.
Rental property. Zakat is due on the accumulated rental income (after expenses), not on the property value itself.
If your intention changes. If you decide to sell a rental property, the ruling changes from that point onward.
