Understanding Qurbani
Who must give Qurbani. Any sane adult Muslim who possesses wealth at or above the nisab threshold.
When. During the three days of Eid al-Adha — the 10th, 11th, and 12th of Dhul Hijjah — after the Eid prayer.
Shares. A sheep or goat counts as one full share for one person. A cow or camel can be shared by up to seven people.
Distribution. The meat is traditionally divided into three parts — one third for the family, one third for friends and neighbours, and one third for those in need.
Qurbani abroad. Many organisations offer online Qurbani services and perform the sacrifice on your behalf in areas of need.
