Zakat on Crops & Harvest

Zakat on agricultural produce (ushr) is due at harvest time. Enter your harvest, its market value, and how it was irrigated — the calculator applies the rate of one-tenth, one-twentieth, or half of that, and your entries stay saved on this device.

Crop Type

Agricultural Zakat applies to staple foods and major crops.

Harvest Details

Enter the total harvest and its market value.

Total harvest value: $0.00

Irrigation Method

The rate depends on the effort and cost of irrigation. Rain-fed crops have a higher rate because the farmer bears less cost.

Understanding Agricultural Zakat

Due at harvest. Zakat on crops is due at the time of harvest, not after a full lunar year (unlike other types of Zakat).

The nisab. The threshold is 5 wasq, which equals approximately 653 kg (1,440 lbs) of the crop. Harvests below this carry no Zakat.

The rate depends on irrigation. 10% (ushr) for rain-fed or naturally irrigated crops, 5% (half ushr) for artificially irrigated crops, and 7.5% when both methods are used.

Expenses. Costs like seeds, fertilizer, and labor are generally not deducted, according to the majority opinion — though some scholars allow deducting them.

What it covers. Zakat on crops applies to staple foods and major agricultural products.
